Summer has started, which may mean taking a vacation for many of our patients. Whether your vacation is a ‘staycation’ and visiting local attractions or it involves traveling cross-country or internationally, we encourage all of you to plan ahead.
We want you to be able to relax and enjoy your time away, so here are some suggestions for a smooth time away.
Notify us of your plans
Please let us know if you are planning to be away from the area so we can advise you about how this may impact your cycle, including monitoring and medications.
Traveling with medication
You will want to make sure you have enough medication to last for the duration of your vacation. You will need to buy a cooler and ice packs if your medications need to be refrigerated. Also make sure you have sufficient supplies like gauze, needles, alcohol wipes, and hand sanitizer. If you are flying, be sure to check with your airline and comply with TSA (Travel Security Administration) guidelines.
Be aware of the Zika virus
The Zika virus is still a threat in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central American countries. You can read Centers for Disease Control recommendations here.
Bon Voyage!
