Laser laparoscopy is a surgical procedure Dr. Blotner uses to examine the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. He can usually correct any diagnoses he identifies in this procedure.
Laparoscopy can diagnose:
- Fibroids
- Scar tissue
- Endometriosis
- Blocked fallopian tubes
All of these conditions can cause infertility. Dr. Bltoner examines the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the outside of the uterus using a narrow fiber-optic telescope inserted through a tiny incision near the navel.
Laparoscopy is a short surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia in a hospital or surgery center. Once the patient is under anesthesia, Dr. Blotner will insert a needle and inject a harmless gas into the abdomen. The gas raises the abdomen wall so he can see the reproductive organs more clearly. He removes the needle and inserts a laparoscope through a tiny incision. Another small incision is made in the lower abdomen so the doctor can insert a probe. The probe moves or lifts the organs to see certain hidden areas. The doctor may inject a dye through the cervix into the uterus and fallopian tubes to see if they are blocked.
